When can I start watching DC's Peacemaker on HBO Max in the UK?

Peacemaker season one is now available on HBO Max in the United States, but UK viewers will have to wait a little longer.

However, the Suicide Squad spin-off series, which focuses on the ferociously dedicated anti-hero Peacemaker (John Cena), now has a UK broadcaster and a release date - and it's just around the corner.

Peacemaker is alive and well, as revealed by the end credits scenes of The Suicide Squad, and is now being handled by NSA agents.

And, as if that wasn't enough, we'll be learning about the character's origins while also seeing him face new challenges.

So, when can we expect to see Peacemaker in the UK? Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming DC Comics series.

Peacemaker will debut on Sky and Now on March 22, 2022.

The exciting news was shared on social media by the show's creator, James Gunn.

"The wait is over, UK," he tweeted. "We've heard you, and I'm thrilled to announce Peacemaker will finally be streaming on @SkyTV and @NOW starting March 2022."

It comes two months after Gunn updated the public on the lack of a UK broadcaster.

"@hbomax and I are working on this; it will be on very soon in the UK, but it will not be day and date with the US and much of the rest of the world," he said. "I am sorry because I did everything I could and am also disappointed." "

DC's Peacemaker premiered on HBO Max in the United States on January 13, 2022.

The first season has eight episodes.

The first three episodes will be released before the remaining five episodes are released one per week, with run times varying between 45 and 60 minutes.

The season finale was released on February 17th, 2022.

WWE legend and Hollywood star John Cena will play the title role in the Peacemaker cast, opposite his The Suicide Squad co-star Steve Agee.

Agee plays John Economos, the warden of the high-security facility where the Squad is held in between missions, as well as Amanda Waller's right-hand man.

Jennifer Holland reprises her role as NSA agent Emilia Harcourt, who is one of the officials watching the team's activities in Gunn's The Suicide Squad.

Danielle Brooks from Orange Is the New Black will play a character named Leota Adebayo, and the Terminator T-1000 himself, Robert Patrick, will play Peacemaker's father, Auggie.

Meanwhile, Chris Conrad will play Adrian Chase, a DC Comics crimefighter with healing abilities who previously appeared in Arrow (a now-completed series set in a separate continuity).

Chukwudi Iwuji (News of the World), Rizwan Manji (Schitt's Creek), Lenny Jacobson (Bumblebee), Elizabeth Ludlow (The Walking Dead), and Nhut Le as DC Comics superhero Judomaster round out the supporting cast.

Yes, Peacemaker was renewed for a second season by HBO Max in February.

"The brilliance of James Gunn once again shines with Peacemaker," said Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content at HBO Max, according to Deadline.

"He took this character, played by the incomparable John Cena, and created an exceptional series that's simultaneously thrilling, hilarious, and heartfelt, showcasing the humanity beneath this misfit team living in a superhuman world."

Every episode of Peacemaker's second season will be written and directed by James Gunn once more.

Gunn teased Deadline about the second season, saying, "I think we're just going to continue the story of Christopher Smith, and there's going to be repercussions for things that have happened, but I'm not saying repercussions in bad ways." Season one had a lot of good things happen to it, in my opinion. "

The series depicts the anti-hero in action as he confronts a new antagonistic threat.

Director-writer James Gunn is known for his dark humour.

Following the events of The Suicide Squad, the series follows Peacemaker/Christopher Smith on his subsequent missions.

Peacemaker is a comic book character who is billed as a pacifist who "loves peace so much that he is willing to fight for it."

He is later revealed to be suffering from a severe mental illness as a result of trauma inflicted on him by his evil father, so these plot details may make it into the streaming series.

The series will also look into the character's origins and why he acted the way he did in The Suicide Squad.

Alternatively, Gunn may abandon the comic book lore and take the character in an entirely new direction, as he hasn't been afraid to make bold choices in the past (see Guardians of the Galaxy).

The Peacemaker series will continue immediately following the conclusion of The Suicide Squad.

HBO and HBO Max's Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys explained to The Hollywood Reporter in February 2021 that Warner Media's top priority with their upcoming slate of DC content is to "make sure that the universe is logical and makes sense."

"That movies speak to TV shows, and TV shows speak to movies — that it's all connected," he added.

On that note, actor and comedian Steve Agee will appear in both the TV series Peacemaker and The Suicide Squad.

Peacemaker will be available on HBO Max in the United States on January 13, 2022.
