How to participate in the voting process for BBC Sports Personality of the Year

Sports fans have two options for voting: by phone or via the BBC Sport website. Voting is only valid when the voting system is open and before the lines close on the designated night.

To vote online, you must first sign in to your BBC account or create a new one. Then, locate your favorite candidate and cast your vote. There is no fee for this, but each BBC account is limited to one vote. This ensures a fair voting process, preventing individuals from voting multiple times.

If you prefer to vote by phone, the numbers will be displayed on the screen during the live show.

Calls to the 11-digit number from both landlines and mobiles will cost 15p plus any additional charges from your network. Calls to the seven-digit number from mobiles only will also cost 15p per vote and should be cheaper than calling the 11-digit number from your mobile.
