Unleash the Power of Your Sky TV: Learn How to Activate Subtitles with Ease!
Are you eager to watch your cherished TV shows and movies with subtitles? Then, this comprehensive guide will be just what you need! Our blog post will reveal the right steps to turn on subtitles on your Sky TV. With almost 90% of Sky's content featuring subtitles, it is highly likely that your favorite shows and movies have them. So, let's get started!
To enable subtitles on your Sky TV, follow these easy steps:
Sky Q1 - Press the question mark " ? " button located on your Sky Q remote.
Voila! The " Subtitles " option should appear on your screen.
For Accessibility remote users, press the " Subtitles " button instead.
Select Your Desired Language
After pressing the appropriate button, toggle to your preferred language.
Multiple languages are available, so scroll through the list until you find the one you need. Once you select it, press "Select", and subtitles will start appearing on your screen in no time!
To switch off subtitles, repeat the same steps, but instead, select "Off."
Please note that channel changes will automatically turn off subtitles for you.
Enabling Subtitles Within Recordings
You can also enable subtitles for recordings saved on your Sky Q box by following these steps:
1 - Start playing the recording you wish to watch.
2 - Press "Pause." A few options should appear on your screen, including "Subtitles."
Select the "Subtitles" option and press "Play." Subtitles should promptly appear on your screen! If they don't, repeat the process and select your preferred language.
Permanently switch subtitles on
To make subtitles a permanent feature across all channels:
1 - Press the "Home" button on your Sky remote.
2 - Select "Settings", then "Accessibility."
3 - Scroll down to "Subtitles" and press "Select". This will change the setting from "Off" to "On."
Ultra HD content on Sky Q
Unfortunately, subtitles are not available for Ultra HD Entertainment or Cinema content. However, you can still add subtitles while watching Ultra HD Sports content if you follow these procedures:
1 - Press the "Home" button on your Sky remote.
2 - Scroll to the Sports tab and select "Ultra HD."
3 - Choose the live program you want to watch and switch on subtitles.
Please note that subtitles will not work when accessing Ultra HD content through the red button on Sky Sports channels.
Sky GlassSky's new product line-up, Sky Glass, happily allows for subtitles. Here's how to turn them on:
1 - Press the "...(three dots Options menu)" button on your Sky remote.
2 - Use the select button to toggle between "Off" and available languages.
Again, similar to Sky Q, you can permanently switch subtitles on by going into "Settings" and "Accessibility" (follow the same aforementioned steps).
Sky BoxIf you still use any of the old Sky boxes, do not worry, subtitles are still available. The procedure is a bit different, however:
1 - Press the "help" button located on your Sky remote.
Voila! The "Subtitles" option should appear on your screen.
Alternatively, you can press the "Subtitles" button on your Sky Easy Grip remote.
2 - Toggling Subtitles On and Off
Once you press the appropriate button, toggle subtitles On or Off by using the left or right arrow keys. Once you make your choice, press "Select" to save the setting.
Please note that if you recorded a subtitled show on Sky, the subtitles will naturally be included and cannot be turned off within that recording. Consider this before recording anything!
Do you need subtitles on the Sky Go app? No worries, they're available for both Live TV and On-Demand content. Here's how to find them:
- On a Mobile or Tablet
- Method 1: Locate the settings cog and select it.
To activate subtitles on your viewing device, simply follow these steps. First, select the ‘Subtitles’ option, then choose ‘On’. If you wish to disable them at any point, select ‘None’. Whenever subtitles are available, they will automatically display on your screen.
Alternatively, you can activate subtitles by accessing player controls through the three dots option. From here, select ‘Subtitles’ and the preferred language. These subtitles will remain active for the duration of your program.
If you are watching on a laptop or computer using Windows or Mac systems, open player controls by selecting the three dots. Once again, choose ‘Subtitles’ and the desired language. This will enable subtitles for the entirety of your program.
Please note that subtitles are not available for live TV or on-demand content in the Sky Kids app, nor for on-demand content rented from the Sky Store section of your set-top box. Additionally, Sky Go does not currently support content from Channel 4, though it may indicate that subtitles are available with an “S” symbol. Sky is currently working on implementing this feature in the future.
