Here are the dates and times of each Ashes Test that you can watch in the UK.

England is attempting to do something they have only done twice in the last 40 years: win the Ashes series in Australia.

Tours to Australia for England have ranged from spectacular to downright shocking, and more recently their travels have resulted in the latter.

Australia won the 2017-18 series 4-0, while a 5-0 humiliation four years prior was dubbed a "Pomnishambles" as Mitchell Johnson ripped England apart.

England's most recent series victory in Australia was in 2010-11 (previously in 1986-87), when Alastair Cook led the side to a 3-1 victory, with James Anderson leading the way with wickets.

Fast forward a decade, and Anderson, 39, is part of the 17-man squad heading to Australia, with fellow bowler Stuart Broad the only other member to have played in that successful series.

It is an experience the pair will look to draw on, and while recent defeats in Australia have made that a distant memory, Anderson believes they are not facing an impossible task this time around.

"We believe we have a group of players who can win," Anderson said ahead of the first Test on BBC's Ashes Project podcast. "I'm not making this up." You say that a lot because you have to be positive, but we genuinely believe we can win here.

"We know they can be beaten in Australia." We've seen groups do it. It's not like when they were such a dominant force that you would go there with caution.

"India won their last two tours here, and South Africa won here." It is not an insurmountable task. ”

India ended Australia's 33-year unbeaten run at the Gabba in January, but England has not won there since 1986, with heavy losses - and that infamous wide - frequently proving to be the catalyst for series defeats.

How to watch the Ashes 2021-22 in the United Kingdom

BT Sport renewed its contract to broadcast Australia's men's and women's home cricket internationals until 2025 in November.

As a result, BT Sport will be the only place for UK viewers to watch the upcoming Ashes series, as well as the women's Ashes series next year.

The contract-free monthly pass from BT Sport costs £25, and it allows users to watch coverage on television or live stream on mobile and tablet devices via the online player or the BT Sport app.

Highlights of the Ashes

Could England's lack of preparation cost them?

The weather in Australia hampered England's preparations, with rain canceling all but 29 overs of their first three-day warm-up against the England Lions before the first two days of their next match were canceled.

England captain Joe Root, on the other hand, has played down the concerns, while Broad believes the lack of matches may work in their favor.

"It's been unusual and different to a lot of previous tours, but the guys have really taken advantage of the opportunities to get as much as they can from what they've had, and all you can do in these situations is be as ready as you can be," Root said.

"I believe we have a fantastic opportunity to do something special here if we can control our emotions, play to our skill levels, be smart in certain situations, and do things differently than we have in the past." ”

"I've been on Ashes tours where we've been extremely well prepared, played three or four first-class games before and come out on the losing side," Broad added.

"We will undoubtedly be the freshest England team to play in an Ashes series."

"We should have a lot of energy and buzz over the next two months, which I see as a positive."

Australia's rocky construction

Thunderstorms hit England, while revelations about Tim Paine sparked a storm in Australia just weeks before the first Test.

Paine resigned as captain four years ago after it was revealed that he had sent an explicit picture and texts to a female Cricket Tasmania employee, and he then left the sport to take an "indefinite mental health break."

He has since been replaced in the Australia squad by Alex Carey, while Pat Cummins has been named captain, with Steve Smith as vice-captain.

Smith's return to leadership comes three years after he was fired as captain due to a ball-tampering scandal, but Cummins, the first fast bowler to captain Australia since 1956, was eager to have the country's top-ranked batsman as his deputy.

"I think there are a couple of more unknowns about having a bowling captain, which is why I was absolutely determined from the start if I was captain to have someone like Steve as vice-captain next to me," Cummins said.

"I feel like I have a lot of experience to draw on." I'm confident we'll be able to work through many of the issues or potential issues that come with being a fast-bowling captain.

"I made it very clear that if I was given the captaincy, this is how I saw the team operating, and I attempted to bring Steve along for the ride." He's so important to how I see my captaincy style. ”
