Liverpool aims to secure a second consecutive victory at the start of the Premier League season as they prepare to face Burnley in the early kick-off on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp's team impressively won 3-0 against Norwich last weekend. One of the most encouraging aspects from the previous weekend was Virgil van Dijk's successful return to competitive football for Liverpool. The Dutch defender completed a full 90 minutes without any issues. With Van Dijk fully fit, Liverpool should be significantly stronger this season.

Burnley, on the other hand, suffered a defeat against Brighton in their opening game, despite taking an early lead through James Tarkowski. The Clarets had multiple opportunities to extend their advantage, but their lack of efficiency in the penalty area prevented them from doing so. Brighton then quickly turned the match around in the second half, leaving Burnley empty-handed with a final score of 2-1.

For Saturday's trip to Merseyside, Burnley will be without Dale Stephens and Kevin Long. It's worth noting that Burnley's last visit to Anfield resulted in a shock victory that ended Liverpool's impressive 68-game unbeaten streak at home.

Unfortunately, Andy Robertson will be sidelined for a few weeks due to an ankle injury, but Curtis Jones might be fit enough to secure a place on the Liverpool bench. Jordan Henderson could also potentially join him there, while Thiago Alcantara is likely to secure a starting position.

The game will kickoff at 12:30pm BST and will be broadcast live on BT Sport 1 in the UK.
