Although I am not usually a fan of pre-packaged sauces, it is safe to say that most of these products have evolved significantly from their previously over salty and overly sugary thick and gloppy-textured predecessors.
So grab a large jar of Dolmio Lasagna Sauce - I went with Tomato, Roasted Onion, and Garlic - alongside Dolmio Lasagna White Sauce for preparation.
My lasagna was ready in no time, and to my surprise, it tasted incredible. 😋
Although there's no need for a proper recipe as everything is stated clearly on the back of the jar, I just couldn't resist adding a pinch of dried oregano and black pepper to give it that extra zing.
Top Tip!To add more flavor to your lasagna, try using a blend of beef and pork mince. Don't just take it from me, Gordon Ramsay recommended it.
Ingredients for this Recipe:
- 1 x 500g jar of Dolmio Lasagna red sauce - or your preferred lasagna red sauce
- 1 x 470g jar of Dolmio Lasagna white sauce
- 250g minced pork - 5% fat
- 250g minced beef - 5% fat
A dish of the same size as your lasagna sheets, with a depth of approximately 3 inches (8cm).
Begin by browning a mixture of pork and beef mince, ensuring they are cooked well before adding the red sauce. Stir the sauce constantly while cooking for approximately 10 minutes. For added flavour, feel free to sprinkle oregano and black pepper into the ready-made mix.
It's vital to read the instructions on the back of the lasagne sheets, as some may require soaking before use. For best results, use lasagne sheets that are made with free-range eggs. Layer your lasagne by alternating between meat sauce and the red sauce, followed by a layer of white sauce. Repeat until you reach the top layer, which should be lasagne.
Finish off with a layer of white sauce and a generous layer of grated cheese. Cover with non-stick kitchen foil and bake in the oven at 180°C/350°F or Gas 4 for approximately 35 minutes. Remove the foil for the last 10 minutes of cooking, ensuring your lasagne is piping hot and lightly golden-brown.
Can You Freeze Lasagne?
Yes! You can freeze lasagne as long as it is completely defrosted before reheating. To avoid drying out your lasagne, we recommend heating it up in the microwave.
