Acquiring a Makro Card for Non-Business Individuals
Looking for a way to acquire a Makro card without the need of being a business? Well, here's a clever method...
Makro, one of the biggest and most popular wholesale companies in the UK, has recently become part of the Booker group.

To obtain a Makro card, you now have to register through Booker. It appears that both companies utilize a shared customer database, granting access to their respective wholesale locations.
Unlike acquiring a Costco card, which requires being a business or charity, we have discovered a perfectly valid solution.
The solution to bypassing the need for a Makro card in order to shop at Makro is to utilize their online store.
When purchasing products from Makro online, there is no requirement to present any form of identification or proof of business.
This allows you to take advantage of the lucrative bulk trade deals offered to Makro customers, even if you are not a business.

It's important to note that there may be certain in-store offers for which you are not eligible.
However, is Makro truly the ideal choice for personal consumer shopping?
To find out, I decided to compare the prices of four products sold at Makro with those of leading supermarket brands, to see if having a Makro membership would enable you to buy food at a cheaper price.
As a proud Yorkshire resident, I naturally had to examine the price of tea bags. At Makro, a 3kg bag of Yorkshire Tea containing 1,200 tea bags costs £18.49.
This equates to roughly £0.015 per tea bag.
A quick check on MySupermarket revealed that the cheapest store currently selling Yorkshire Tea is Morrisons, offering 240 tea bags for £4.00. This comes out to about £0.016 per tea bag.

Thus, purchasing 1,200 tea bags from Morrisons would amount to £20.00, compared to the price of £18.49 at Makro.
Whether it's Halloween or a children's party, Haribo Starmix candies are always a crowd-pleaser!

These particular items are typically priced at £0.10 per bag, but Makro is currently offering a deal where you can buy 100 bags for £6.23, reducing the cost to just £0.06 per bag.
To validate my suspicions, I conducted a quick search on MoneySupermarket. It confirmed that the best offer is at Tesco, where you can purchase 6 bags for £0.50, making each bag cost £0.08.
Regardless of the option you choose, buying 100 bags at Tesco would amount to £8.33, which is £2.10 more expensive than at Makro.

I'm not particularly fond of branded toilet rolls, but I recognized that it was necessary to accurately compare prices. Therefore, I obtained a package of Andrex toilet rolls from Makro.

This family pack contains 16 rolls and is priced at £7.79, resulting in a cost of £0.48 per roll.
However, I discovered that Tesco is currently offering a pack of 18 rolls for only £6.00. This equates to £0.33 per roll and provides a savings of £2.76 for every 18 rolls.
Out of the three items, Makro offered the lowest price for two, while the supermarkets offered the lowest price for one.

Nevertheless, I personally dislike extensively shopping around. Going from Makro to Morrisons and Asda, among others, would be a considerable waste of time, not to mention the petrol required to visit each store in search of savings.

Consequently, I decided to conduct one final comparison by comparing shopping baskets.
In the end, I chose to purchase the following items:
- 18 packs of Andrex Toilet Rolls
- 1,200 Yorkshire Tea Bags
- 100 packs of Haribo Star Mix
