A Guide to Properly Setting Up Your Sky Remote Control

The Sky Remote Control is capable of controlling various basic functions on your television, including adjusting the volume, changing channels, accessing teletext, and turning the power on or off. Normally, Sky engineers configure this for you during installation. However, if you upgrade your TV, purchase a new remote, or neglect to replace the batteries in a timely manner, these functions may be lost.

When you receive a Sky handbook with your Sky box, it contains a concise list of TV manufacturers along with their corresponding 4-digit codes. Keep in mind, however, that this list is rather limited compared to the multitude of TV manufacturers out there. Additionally, you can find regularly updated lists of 3-digit codes specific to various TV manufacturers and model numbers on the internet.

It's worth noting that there are different versions of the Sky Remote Controls available on the market. When purchasing a new remote, ensure that you choose the latest version to guarantee compatibility with your TV.

The procedure for programming your Sky remote control using the 4-digit code is as follows:

• Turn on your TV
• Press the 'TV' button on your Sky Remote control
• Hold down the 'SELECT' and 'Red' buttons for 2-3 seconds until the LED blinks twice
• Press the 'TV' button on the Sky Remote control once again
• Enter the 4-digit code corresponding to your TV
• The LED should blink twice. If it doesn't, double-check the 4-digit code and return to step 1
• Press the 'STANDBY' button on the Sky Remote control (the TV should now go into standby mode. If it doesn't, refer to the instructions below)
• Press the 'SELECT' button to store the code

• If the TV does not go into standby mode, press the 'TV' button followed by the 'STANDBY' button. Repeat this process slowly until the TV enters standby mode. Once it does, press 'SELECT' to save the code.

• Turn on your TV
• Press the 'TV' button on the Sky Remote control
• Hold down the 'SELECT' and 'Red' buttons for 2-3 seconds until the LED blinks twice
• Enter the 3-digit code
• Press the 'SELECT' button to store the code
• Press 'TV' followed by any number to test the functionality
• If the TV does not respond correctly, try another code or use the method with the 4-digit code
